I'm sure everyone already knows that Rush has added a second leg to their immensely successful "Snakes and Arrows" tour and are making a return stop in Phoenix on May 1st. If you missed the first show of the tour, and it was an incredible one, this is your chance to catch The Boys one more time. They're as strong as they ever were and sound amazing!

Just over a week after the real show, Anthem will be playing more of Rush's music on Friday May 9th at Joe's Grotto. So, if you're unable to see the actual band, come see a humble copy in a cozy small venue. Hell, even if you did make it to the show, this promises to be a great evening. Opening the show will be Phoenix legend Michael Nitro and closing the show will be Godsmack tribute VooDoo.

Happy New Year to all -- we hope it's been a safe and fulfilling one so far! Don't forget to sign up for your health club membership and blow it off in another month. After all, that's what January's all about. No time at the gym for us, however, as we've been busy with a couple of private parties this month. Rush fans seem to be turning 40 this year and want to hire us for their parties -- so don't forget that we play private events at very reasonable rates. What could be better at your 40th birthday party? Perhaps if we were hot coeds but you'll have to settle (see the pictures page for how hot we really are!)

And now...good news, everyone! We finally have video clips available on the site on the new video page. Take a gander and let us know what you think. While you're at it, let us know if there are songs you think we should add to our set list. You can always send us feedback and comments from the contact us page. By the way, if you cannot access the video links, it's because you're surfing our site instead of working and your work has uTube blocked...get back to work!

Finally, don't forget to sign up for our email list by clicking the link to the left (←) and be informed of all our upcoming shows and extravaganzas. We hope to book at least two extravaganzas this year and will let the email list know before anyone else.

We're very excited to be returning to The Marquee Theater on Friday December 14th to open for the legendary Led Zepagain. These guys have been voted L.A.'s top tribute act and have been visited by Jimmy Page himself. Also on the bill are Weathered, an awesome tribute to Creed and Fracture, our old friends doing their progressive rock tribute to such acts as King Crimson, Frank Zappa and Yes. This will be an incredible evening, not to mention the treat it will be for drummers alone.

Tickets are usually $15 from the venue but we're offering them for just $12 if you buy them ahead of time. Go to our Contact page and click on the Ticket Purchases link or, better yet, go to Guitar Electronics to pick up your tickets. While you're there, bring Rob and Gary your guitar or amp for the best repairs around (and I'm NOT just saying that).

Good News Everyone! It's not the end of the year and we actually got some pictures up on the site from shows that took place this year (thanks, Becky). Take a look at the Pictures page for this amazing feat of being on top of our game. We are truly moving this locomotive ahead with NO stopping us now! On a related subject, if anyone wants to take pictures at any of our shows and send them to us, we'll be more than happy to get them on the site. Look, if we weren't so busy or if *some* of us actually had girlfriends, we'd do it ourselves -- but it looks like we'll have to rely on our Anthem-supporting public to take care of us instead (taking pictures, that is).

On to more good news...we also have a booking! Does it get any better?? And you guys thought we were just keeping the web site up for appearances. No -- we actually do play out and will be doing so again very soon (December 1st, actually). We'll be back at our old haunt and one of Phoenix's best clubs, Joe's Grotto. It also looks like we might have a special guest coming up to play drums on a song (no, Neil's still on tour) so don't miss this one. Check the shows page for more details.

This Friday (September 28th) we're doing a very special show in Mesa at The Cell Block (this is formerly Papillon's Too on Gilbert Road just south of Broadway -- go to the shows page for more details). Opening the show will be our old friends Powerslave doing their awesome Iron Maiden tribute and they'll be followed by Get Your Guns, a brand new Guns 'n' Roses tribute that we've heard will blow you away!

We'll be taking the stage around 11 and will play the rest of the night -- over two hours of our favorite Rush material. We'll be playing much of the deeper songs we don't get the chance to dig into much for the shorter shows (such as Jacob's Ladder and Xanadu) and there will, of course, be a drum solo!

Admission is $7 and the doors open at 7. We'll see you at the show...

Also, check out some recent press we've been getting. The most recent (September 20th) issue of Get Out magazine has an article on us PLUS the Tribute City web site is featuring us on their home page for the next few weeks.

We'll be in the opening lineup once again for the upcoming Atomic Punks show on Saturday, August 18th. The Punks are one of the top tribute acts in the nation and do an amazing David Lee Roth-era Van Halen tribute. The show includes B.S., a tribute to Bon Scott-era AC/DC featuring our good friends Kevin and Kyran from Powerslave and Too Fast For Love, a new Motley Crüe tribute. Tickets for this show are available for only $12 by clicking the Ticket Purchases link on our Contact page OR by visiting:

I hope all of you are planning to go to the almighty Rush show this Friday. You can be sure we'll be out there -- maybe we'll see a few Anthem shirts in the crowd! Not only are we really excited about this upcoming show, but we have a killer show of our own only a week later.

Friday, August 3rd, we're going to be back at Joe's Grotto for another tribute night. This one will feature Astrocreep 2000, a Rob Zombie tribute for an opener and Ozzmosis, a scary awesome Ozzy Osbourne tribute for the headliner. These guys are an incredible treat and should not be missed by anyone, even grandma!

We have a very exciting show coming up on Wednesday, June 13th at Hollywood Alley. The bill features Fracture, a phenomenal tribute to classic progressive rock such as King Crimson, ELP, Yes, Peter Gabriel and Frank Zappa. If you're a fan of progressive music, this show will be an absolute treat. This will also be our first show at Hollywood Alley so we hope to make a good impression and get invited back in the near future -- all your support will be much appreciated. Check the shows page for the messy details...

We'll be playing another tribute night at Joe's Grotto in August along with two very special guests, Astrocreep 2000, a Rob Zombie tribute and Ozzmosis (a killer tribute to Ozzy featuring Anthem's Dale Zapata on guitar). Once again, the shows page has the details.

We've got some great shows coming up...

This coming Friday the 13th (of April), we'll be back at one of our favorite venues, Joe's Grotto -- as you probably know, one of the best light and sound venues in town. We're very excited to be sharing the stage with Astrocreep 2000, an awesome Rob Zombie tribute and, as a VERY special treat, the premier of Ozzmosis, a brand new tribute to Ozzy Osbourne featuring our very own Dale Zapata on guitar (yup -- he's doing double-duty that night)...and if you think he kicks ass on the Rush material, wait to you hear him nailing the Randy Rhodes and Zach Wylde stuff!

Next month we'll be playing with a have-to-see-to-believe tribute to classic progressive rock called Fracture. These guys do everything from King Crimson to Yes to Peter Gabriel. If you're a fan of this kind of music, you have to catch these guys...they're excellent. We'll also be travelling to Hemet, California for a show on Cinco De Mayo (that's May 5th for those of you that have trouble remembering) at Tap Daddy's sharing the bill with a Dream Theater tribute called Train of Thought. This is going to be a fantastic show for fans of progressive metal.

Check the shows page for all the hairy details.

A huge thanks to everyone that showed for The Atomic Punks show on the 3rd. What an awesome time that was and what a killer band The Punks are. If you missed them this time around, don't make the same mistake twice! They're going to be back here in May.

Speaking of Van Halen tributes, we'll be opening for yet another killer VH tribute, 5150. These guys are the "sister" band to The Atomic Punks doing all of the Hagar-era material with a singer that'll have you thinking he's Sammy. The show will be on Friday, March 23rd at Tempe's Marquee Theater again. Send us a message from the Contact Us page to buy tickets -- plus you'll get a FREE Anthem t-shirt when you buy 4 or more tickets...don't delay!

Last weekend was just great! Two shows in a row with some of The Valley's best tribute bands. A huge thanks to Kim from Electric Circus Promotions for putting the weekend-long tour together. We also had some video footage shot and hope to have something on the site real soon.

Don't forget, this coming Saturday, February 3rd well be opening for The Atomic Punks at Tempe's Marquee Theater. Hit us up at the Contact Us page if you want pre-sale tickets for $12.

Anthem has some great things going on these days. Check it out...

We're featured in the January 18th issue of the Nightlife insert in GetOut Magazine. This is a free publication distributed throughout Phoenix every Thursday.

We have some great upcoming shows booked including Electric Circus's Tribute Weekend which includes back-to-back shows (at Joe's Grotto on Friday, January 26th and Last Exit on Saturday, January 27th) featuring the same lineup -- Anthem, Powerslave (an Iron Maiden tribute) and Unskinny Bop (an outrageous Poison tribute). We've worked with both bands before and, in addition to being great folks and very professional, both bands are just KILLER. These shows will be a huge treat with three great bands doing top-notch tributes. In March, we're going to be playing with Cheaper Trix for the first time. They're an excellent (you guessed it) Cheap Trick tribute.

Finally, we're really excited to be booked to open for The Atomic Punks in February at Tempe's Marquee Theater. These guys are an incredible David Lee Roth-era Van Halen tribute. Also on the bill are 68 Guns, Frankenshred and Razer -- another lineup of kick-ass bands. Please send us an email through the Contact Us page if you want pre-sale tickets...they're only $12.

Check the Shows page for all the details on the upcoming shows and don't forget to sign up for our email list (use the button to the left) to get informed about all our shows and be in-the-know for special offers and advanced information.

It's been a great year for Anthem with many exciting shows. We've played with some other great talented tribute bands and have made some excellent friends. Also, a big thanks to Electric Circus Promotions for all their help and the great shows they've helped us be a part of this year and next.

We'll be ending the year with a huge blowout on Saturday, December 30th at Big Daddy's North. This will be a truly memorable show with over two hours of your favorite Rush material, the premier of the Neil Peart Replica Drum Kit, Unskinny Bop opening the show AND some new special treats in the lighting/effects department! See the shows page for all the details.

If you haven't seen us yet, get ready to hear the most authentic reproduction of Rush's music since the mighty Canadian trio themselves. If you have seen us perform, we're mixing it up and constantly adding new material. From Analog Kid to Xanadu, we cover as much of the Rush library as our mothers will allow so don't miss the opportunity to hear your favorite music live even though your favorite band is still in the studio!!

These last months have been awesome. We've been enjoing adding new songs to our line up and playing with some truly wonderful acts. As the Tribute scene starts to heat up, we're all happy to see recreations of our favorite acts from their glory days. Our Tribute Night show at Chasers will be on Saturday, August 19th and will feature Grey Street tributing The Dave Matthews Band, Unskinny Bop tributing Poison, Anthem tributing Rush and Powerslave tributing Iron Maiden...all in one night! What a frickin' show that's gonna be. Admission's going to be $5 and includes a bunch of prize giveaways.

If you've yet to see an Anthem show, you're doing yourself an injustice. For those that have seen this power trio in action, you know what I'm talking about. An inspired reproduction of the most awesome music the industry has ever had to offer. As most moderately-schooled rock-n-rollers already know, Rush has been at the top of the heap with their progressive form of song writing wizadry and has striven to push the limits of what three individuals can sound like. Yet, as the complexity of their music comes out album after album, one has to question their ability to recreate their music on stage and on the road. Much to this author's suprise, their live show always includes all the signature sounds, all the backing keys, all the vocal harmonies that were on the albums -- which begs the question: How is all this music being made by just three guys? If you've ever seen a Rush show, you know what I mean. So, we asked ourselves: How are we going to reproduce this? No one has pondered this more in recent history than Russ Coss, the invaluable member of Anthem who has striven to answer this question by boldly going where no other synthesizers, samplers, sequencers, and computer modules have gone before...a journey to recreate all the elements of a Rush show. He has one rule: If you're going to do Rush, do it right or don't do it at all!

Needless to say, countless hours have been spent wringing out the array of sounds and effects required for these signature songs. Well, I'm here to tell you Mr. Coss has answered back biGGGG. Backing keyboards and sound effects are driven by a Roland Workstation and are at the beckoned call of the Roland PK-5 foot pedals which offer a full octave of midi implimentation and sit at both guitar and bass positions (pay close attention to the intricate footwork that goes on during our show). Dozens of samples and sequences serve to handle the vast network of sounds. Seperate trigger pads also lay at our drummer, Rob James' fingertips wired to his Roland TD-10 "brain", which, oddly enough, doesn't resemble Rob at all! At longer shows you'll also see the impressive lighting show synchronized to the music and providing many different visual landscapes to augment the show.

All in all, when it comes to a Rush tribute show, Anthem gives as good as you like to get - and then some. Come out and support the local Tribute scene by seeing Anthem and tell them Dale sent you.

C-ya...

Mr. J. Secret

We've had a great time playing out in the last couple months. We had an awesome night with Powerslave in March. If you're an Iron Maiden fan, you have to check these guys out -- they're fantastic! We'll be doing more shows with them in the near future. Also look for us to be sharing shows with other great Phoenix tribute bands such as Unskinny Bop, a full-out tribute to Poison, makeup and all!

It's time to start paying close attention to the songs we're adding -- you might catch us doing a really cool montage of old material from the R30 concert DVD, or some deeper cuts like Red Sector A and even some newer material from the Counterparts album. And, of course, if we're not playing something you'd like to hear, let us know. We may laugh in your face -- but, then again, you might get lucky!

Don't miss the May 13th show at Big Daddy's North -- we'll be playing the two-hour show and will be followed by local favorites Krysis and 22 Red. Only a $5 cover charge for two hours of Rush music at a great bar PLUS two more bands. Why would you miss it??? Check the shows page for all the details.

See you there...

It's been an exciting month or so with us polishing the two-hour show, adding new tunes and even playing out a couple times. We had a great time playing at Big Daddy's North and will be back there on March 18th for a show with Deranged Society and Purgatory. We're also really excited to be playing a show on March 25th with Powerslave, a really killer Iron Maiden tribute band. We'll be splitting the bill doing a 2-hour set each. This will be at a brand new club in Mesa called The Hambone...you DON'T want to miss this one! Check the shows page for all the details plus maps.

See all you Rush-heads soon
